With 40 programmed events and close to 100 contributors, Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks 2020 is securing its position as one of Scandinavia’s leading discussion platforms for design and architecture – This is our most dynamic and varied program ever, says Program Manager Ulrika Kjellström Attar. 2020 marks the sixth year of Stockholm Design & Architecture Talks (SDAT). Over five days, the fair’s visitors are invited to listen to talks, debates and interviews with some of the most influential players in the contemporary design industry.

Next year, 237 candidates from 67 countries will be in the running for the world’s largest and most prestigious children’s literature award, the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award. This was announced on October 17 by the ALMA jury member Mats Kempe at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Gothia Towers is one of Europe’s largest integrated meeting venues. Now this global venue will become even bigger. This year an architectural competition was held to design a fourth tower with spectacular top floors, a new multi-storey entrance and a terrace. The winning design from Tham & Videgård Arkitekter creates an open environment in which food, culture and events share the space with meetings and trade fairs throughout the venue, adding more dimensions to the overall visitor experience.

Since 2015, the international competition "ITA Tunnelling and Underground Space Awards" has sought to reward the most ground-breaking innovations and outstanding projects in underground construction. The 2019 edition will take place on 18-20 November, in Miami, FL during the 8th Annual Cutting Edge conference organized by UCA of SME and the Tunnelling Journal.

A great deal has changed recently in the motor industry for the better with the promotion of electric vehicles which considerably reduce toxic pollution and global warming gas CO2. The latter is now true given increasing levels of decarbonisation of the electricity grid. In terms of homologation standards, the new WLTP test cycle is closer than the NEDC test cycle but still falls short of how vehicles are operated in "real world" conditions.

In September 2019, the Royal Academy of Arts will present a solo exhibition of the internationally acclaimed British sculptor Antony Gormley (b. 1950), the most significant in the UK for over a decade. The exhibition will bring together both existing and especially conceived new works for the occasion, from drawings and sculptures to experiential environments, that will take on the RA’s Main Galleries across all 13 rooms.

8 September 2019 marks the opening of FOR FOREST – The Unending Attraction of Nature, Austria’s largest public art installation to date, conceived by Klaus Littmann. Bringing together art, nature and architecture in an unprecedented way, this monumental art intervention sees the transformation of Wörthersee football Stadium in Klagenfurt

Following the expanded overview at HKW, the bauhaus imaginista exhibition will continue to travel: Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern will showcase the HKW exhibition of bauhaus imaginista from September 20, 2019 to January 12, 2020. Nottingham Contemporary will show bauhaus imaginista: Still Undead with a focus on the UK from September 21, 2019 to January 5, 2020.
